The Chapel

The Chapel is part of ‘The Jaffa’, a Luxury Collection Hotel in the Old City of Jaffa, just a few steps from the seaside, the Clock Tower, the Fleamarket District and much more. I would go out on a limb and say that this is the most beautiful and luxurious hotel in Tel Aviv. Needless to mention that the associated bar has to keep up with the hotel - in this case though, the bar almost outshines the rest of the hotel.

As you might assume, The Chapel indeed used to be a church back in the 18th century, serving as the School of the Sisterhood of St. Joseph. The building has been restored and conceived by British designer John Pawson. Though the chapel has been de-sanctified, there are many people who have mixed feelings about the concept of converting a holy place into a bar, where (god forbid) people actually have fun, consume alcoholic beverages and even dance on the weekends! Apparently, so I got told by the lovey waiter, this is the reason why The Chapel is barely allowed to promote the place. Well, if they don’t, I sure will.

Now let’s talk prices…I’m guessing you won’t be surprised that a place like this doesn’t come cheap - HOWEVER, I do want to emphasize on the size of the cocktails (huge!) and the fact that they serve the most delicious (also huge!) olives I’ve ever had, along with the drinks. Over all, I must say though: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Honestly, in the entire world I have not seen any bar that is more stunning than this one. I wish I could take all their furniture and place them in my living room. Oh, and I’d take the floor as well. The Chapel is definitely equipped with the most unique interior I’ve seen in a bar. Be sure to have a moment of amazement as well, once you enter.
