Nachmani Winery

It’s amazing what Instagram can do – I hear many people complain about personalized ads, but here’s proof that they aren’t so bad after all. In fact, they can actually be very helpful. If Nachmani Winery wouldn't have shown up on my feed, I would have probably never found this place – and that would have been a pity as it definitely brought me the most unique and intimate winery experience I’ve ever had.

As much as I love Tel Aviv, I enjoy exploring the beautiful surroundings, too. When I saw Nachmani’s appealing Instagram page, I put their winery straight up on top of my bucket list. Nachmani Winery is a family-owned business, which started in 2003, when the owner, David, discovered his passion for wine and turned his hobby into a business. David mainly produces three signature wines which are all named after his children: “Gilad” (Cabernet Sauvignon), “Hagar” (Merlot) and “Shaked” (a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot). The most recent addition, “Mika” (Shiraz), is named after their daughter in law. Before the wine finds its way into the bottle, it ages at least 2 to 3 years in customized oak barrels. Even the corks are Nachmani-branded and the material is specially imported from Portugal. The grapes mainly come from the Golan Heights and the Galilee. Nachmani is located in Gan Ner on the Gilboa, close to Nazareth and it’s only about one hour drive from Tel Aviv. Their property is located in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood and reminds me of a little peaceful oasis, where I would like to spend an entire weekend.

My visit to Nachmani Winery was part of a birthday present from my boyfriend. We went there during lunch time, when we were on our way to Tzfat. The owners welcomed us in their beautiful backyard and David gave us a tour of their property and explained everything about the process of producing his wines. Afterwards we were seated on the couch in the yard, facing Mount Gilboa’s pure nature. Frances, David’s wife, brought us a delicious selection of cheese, dips and crackers, presented in the most aesthetic and appealing way. Once we were seated, David started pouring the wine. We spent about 2 hours enjoying the entire selection of wines and the stunning views from the cozy backyard, which is decorated with lots of love and attention to detail. The whole atmosphere and surrounding made everything taste even more delicious! I truly liked all the wines we tasted, however, my favorite was Gilad, a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. We also purchased two bottles which we kept for a special occasion.

My boyfriend later on told me that he reached out to Nachmani via Instagram and they immediately replied to all of his questions. The visit including wine tasting and the tasty selection of cheeses and snacks costs 70 Shekels per person – in Tel Aviv you can get two glasses of wine for that amount, do I need to say more? I simply loved that the whole visit felt personal and not like something everyone else has already done. I can only recommend you to experience this beautiful and intimate winery yourself!
